INFO Breast Cancer Logo Guestbook

I was diagnosed a year ago with breast cancer. I have had a segmental breast removal (about 1/4 of my breast) followed by chemo and radiation. I was put on Tamoxifen and at first all was going well. Last couple of months I haven't been feeling well, lots of bone pain, migraines, bloating, indeigestion and so on. I've had a follow-up bone scan and I'm scheduled for a liver ultrasound this Friday. I'm a little scared but I'm hoping it's the Tamoxifen and not a recurrence of the cancer. I'm 48 years old and have 2 teenage daughters. I worry about them. I also have 3 younger sisters and one just had surgery for breast cancer. There are was no prior history of breast cancer in the family. I really like this site especially your quest book and Quilt. I got through last year with the help of the Lord and I'll get through the next as well. My prayers go to all of you who are touched by this scary disease. God Bless you!

Your WebSite is great! My mother is 75, is a 33 yr survivor of breast cancer, and a 5 yr survivor of ovarian cancer. I had a mastectomy in 1987, no lymph involvement, no radiation or chemo, and did not have reconstruction done at the time. Now I am considering prophylactic removal of the other breast and reconstruction of both. I could have a matched set again! I surfed for info and found you. I'll be back.

I am a 18 year old daughter of a mother with breast cancer. She started with breast cancer 4 years ago at the age of 36. It came back in her neck 2 years ago. And now just 3 months ago it came back in her spine and liver. She has undergone numerous treatments and has great courage. I love her dearly, but we all know her time is limited. She is only 40 years old. Please pray for us...I am scared...

Had wide excision Nov.21 1996 to remove in situ ductal cancer from right breast, minimal clear margin so 27 radiation treatments in progress. Last one April 21 96..YAHOO! I'm 41, my mum had similar diagnosis and treatment at 47 so am interested in genetic links to help two sisters and my daughters (20 and 23) work to a cancer free future. Good health to other survivors. Great page!

Just discovered this great resource and will probably be returning to it frequently. I had a lumpectomy in August '97 and radiation following it. My prognosis is excellent, but I am not happy with Tamoxifen side effects, i.e., hot flashes much too frequently. My oncologist prescribed Ergotamine/Belladonna/PB/SA and then Megace to counter those effects. Neither worked and I had a terrible skin reaction to the Megace. Has anyone found something that works?

On March 5 I was watching a program on tv saying that self examination was of very little use. I began examining my breasts which I very rarely do. I felt a lump, very definit, at least 1 inch. The next day I went to the doctor, had the biopsy and was confirmed with cancer. I had the operation on March 11. I understand it was successful and did not spread to the lymph. I understand I have to have radiation. I am really starting to get scared. I probably kept thinking, no it won't be cancer. This is a great site. Just hearing other stories related to me.

I am 26 years old and I just had a fibroadenoma removed from my left breast and a 5 cm cystosarcoma phyllodes tumor removed from my right breast. My doctor thought it was another fibroadenoma but was wrong, so I have to go back and get more breast tissue removed from around the area the tumor was taken out. Thank goodness it was benign. She said there is a possibility of another one coming back in the future. I hope it doesn't. I would like any information on cystosarcoma phyllodes that anyone can send me. Thank you. Please, all you wonderful women out there take care of yourselves. Peace & Love!!

I am a massage therapy student trying to locate a post mastectomy patient for a case study. I am interested in breast cancer particularily post mastectomy due to the fact that my grandmother had both breasts removed twelve years ago, she had a modified radical mastectomy and is still doing fine. Massage therapy can be very beneficial especially if any muscle fibers of the chest wall have been affected. If you are interested or have any questions please contact me.

I am 41, had lumpectomy, radiation in Oct.'91 for .6cm tumor & negative lymph nodes. (did not have clean margins) Took tamoxifen for 2.5 years. Found new lump in same breast, Jan. 96. Underwent mastectomy and TRAM reconstruction, and chemotherapy. The TRAM reconstruction was not as bad as all the books stated. I was able to leave the hospital in 3 days, and the pain was minimal. The zofran (anti-nausea) medication given prior to each Chemo treatment helped to keep me from becoming sick. I am now recuperating from the Nipple revision surgery, and will be going thru radiation again (targeting the regional lymph nodes around the sternum). Results from the mastectomy showed cancer cells in the old site, a new tumor about 1.5 inches from the old site, and 3 out of 4 quadrants with cancer in the ducts. Also, there was evidence of lymphatic invasion. Would like to hear from others who have had local recurrences. I found the local American Cancer Society in my county rather unresponsive.

Two wks ago I was dx with intraductal comedo carcinoma in the lft breast. Went for 2nd opinion @ Stanford Med Ctr. Now having surgical biopsy on rt breast prior to mastectomy. Have a strong family hx of breast & ovarian cancer. I'm 49 yrs old. Want to hear from people that have experience with intraductal CA. If the rt breast shows no signs of CA, I still want to have a bilateral mastectomy. Anyone else with that experience? I'm also interested in hearing about reconstructive surgery using the tram flap procedure. My surgery is scheduled for 3/16, so quick responses will be much appreciated! Thanks

I'm 46 yrs old. Sept/94 I had bi-lateral mastectomies. No node involvement. I had no lump, just calcifications showed up on routine mammogram. After two different biopsies and no clear margins I had the bi-lateral. I had reconstruction at the same time as bi-lateral . I am very pleased with the results. I educated myself reading everything I could read on breast cancer. Sure wish I new about your web page then. Please feel free to contact me. A grateful survivor!

Congratulations! I just discovered your guestbook. What a great idea. Regarding healthy eating, you might want to look into The Hay System which recommends the right combination of foods. For example: Starches and sugars should not be eaten with proteins and acid fruits at the same meal, etc. The book you could consult on this is called: Food Combining For Health by Doris Grant and Jean Joice.

I have seen a lot lately. Q. Do you advocate vegetarianism?? I really like your page additions and this guestbook. Why do you have a page between your index page and the actual guestbook?
